On behalf of the MCBIOS Board of Directors and MCBIOS2021 Organizing Committee, I would like to take this holiday season to express my appreciation for your continuing support and engagement thorough out the difficult 2020. As vaccination has started at US, we are optimistic that the pandemic will be soon behind us. We will be back to our normal life and bring the society into a new and bright 2021. Below are a few updates:
The 2021 annual conference and YSEA Application: The 2021 conference will be a virtual event co-organized with MAQC Society between April 26-30. The Young Scientist Excellence Award (YSEA) has been a unique opportunity offered by the society for the career development of young scientists including both students and postdoc. The deadline to apply is Jan 31, 2021.
Conference Proceedings: We are extremely excited to announce that we have teamed up with Frontiers journal as an outlet for MCBIOS proceedings for 2021 and onwards. This new outlet offers an opportunity to publish your work in various article types (e.g., original research, review, short review, methods, etc). In addition, the journal could accommodate a broad range of topics (beyond bioinformatics) presented in our conference.
The membership: To ensure your uninterrupted engagement as a member, we will offer an add-on membership option to the existing mechanism which will take place soon. As a society member, you will enjoy many benefits such as conducting MCBIOS projects, hosting MCBIOS events (such as virtual webnar, workshops and local chapters), eligible for a reduced publication fee for the conference proceedings, and taking the society leadership positions.
Future annual conferences: We have developed a draft plan for the next three years’ conferences. For 2022, we will have in-person conference at SAS Campus at North Carolina as a joint event with MAQC Society, followed with Dallas in 2023 and Atlanta in 2024 respectively.
We wish you a wonderful holiday season!
